Family Sponsorship
The Canadian government has designed programs for Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents that wish to sponsor their relatives to Canada. Sponsor eligibility requirements vary depending on the type of relative you wish to sponsor.
Who can be come a sponsor?
Sponsors must meet all of the following requirements:

Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Resident status, or be registered as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act

Living in Canada or abroad if conditions for exception are met
3
At least 18 years of age
4
Meet income requirements (not applicable if sponsoring spouse/common-law partner or dependent child)
5
Agree to take on financial obligations to support your relative in Canada

Who can you sponsor?
- Your spouse or common-law partner
- Your dependent children or dependent children of your spouse or common-law partner
- Your parents or grandparents

- Other relatives (some exceptions apply)
